Scientists Create "Virus WiFi"

Written By Blog Walker on Mar 1, 2014 | 3/01/2014

England - The virus that spreads via bluetooth, web, or perhaps flash has been found. But a group of British scientists succeeded in creating a new virus that is circulating via WiFi.

The virus is named Chameleon, and was developed from a variety of computer virus that is able to spread rapidly. Amazingly this virus can infect all WiFi connected devices, regardless of operating system.

The virus that was developed by researchers from the University of Liverpool has a way of working that is claimed tub flu virus. He can jump from one access point (AP) to another access point that is not password protected.

"When attacked, Chameleon will not affect the AP, but were able to gather and transmit important data of all users connected WiFi there," explained Professor Alan Marshall. As quoted by Forbes, Friday (28/02/2014).

Marshall believed by the AP itself will be the target of cyber criminals in the future. Because these devices begin to be found, especially with the growth of smartphones, tablets and other devices.

"Many assume that it is not possible to put a virus in WiFi, but we have shown that the virus can do that," added Marshall.

Yes, Marshall and his team did not intend evil when developing the virus, they just want to prove that the cyber threat is getting wider. So naturally it if the user is encouraged to be more careful.
